We had a very successful and fruitful week, which started with the 2nd Singapore-Hungary Fintech Business Forum, co-organised by the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA). Dr. Mihály Patai, Deputy Governor of Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB, Central Bank of Hungary), Mr. Shadab Taiyabi, President of the SFA and Ambassador Judit Pach welcomed the guests.

The program included panel discussions in the current topics of Fintech, B2B session, networking lunch – everything you may wish for to support the collaboration between Hungarian and Singaporean fintech businesses.

On Tuesday Dr. Mihály Patai, Deputy Governor of MNB and Ambassador Judit Pach attended „The Capital Meets Policy Dialogue” event, where the Deputy Governor was one of the panelists of the „Policymaker’s Perspective” discussion.

Together with other central bank leaders they had a very insightful discussion about why today with a quickly developing fintech sector it is even more crucial to facilitate dialogue between capital and policy makers with Deputy Governor Mihály Patai sharing the innovative approach of Hungarian National Bank facilitating cooperation between traditional banks and fintech companies.

At the 7th edition of the Singapore FinTech Festival, Hungary was present with a booth of the Hungarian National Bank, opened by Mr. Patai, Ambassador Pach and Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief Fintech Officer of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

The Deputy Governor and Ms Anikó Szombati, Chief Digital Officer of the Hungarian National Bank participated in several panel discussions and we even had a panel on the Fintech world stage called „Smart just like the Rubik’s Cube: High-growth FinTechs from Hungary”. During the discussion Hungarian companies like SEON, Fraud Fighters, Cellum Group, Finshape HU - formerly W.UP could introduce their products and technologies and elaborate on the quickly growing fintech ecosystem in Hungary.

During the Global Fintech Award Gala Ambassador Judit Pach met Minister Alvin Tan and leading women from the SG fintech community.

It was truly inspiring couple of days where we have learned a lot about the future possibilities in fintech and how we can harness them to establish deeper ties between our two countries.
