Hungarian product designer Ádám Nagy received the Red Dot award with Birosign’s pen in Singapore. In this year, 214 Red Dot awardees were selected out of 4 218 competitive designs form 46 countries.

About the pen:

This unique pen developed and patented by Birosign can identify users using fine motor movements of the hand. Secure authentication is increasingly important today because of significant losses attributed to cybercrime worldwide. Besides forgery protection, the novel design was also in the focus since it is essential for user experience.

The fully wireless device does not require a sensitive surface or signature pad. Out of the ordinary solution consists of a highly sensitive, secured device, and an AI-based matching algorithm. The ability to write a signature is unique, cannot be imitated or stolen contrary to traditional biometric approaches.

This technology can provide secure and privacy-friendly authentication solution in the financial, telecommunication, and governmental sectors. Birosign follows the footsteps of Hungarian inventor László Bíró revive pen and defines the future of signature.

„Numerous household objects that are part of our culture have lost their significance in the digital world. Sometimes, thanks to modern technology, some of them can be reborn. The beauty of this project lied in preserving and further developing the traditional process of signing in the spirit of the digital age.”

About the designer:

Product designer Ádám Nagy was awarded by the Moholy-Nagy Design Grant last year, and with Péter Iglói-Nagy they received the Hungarian Design Award for WIWE cardio diagnostic device.
